Membership Levels
Clinical Membership
Requirements
To be eligible for Clinical Membership in the Society, an applicant is required to:
- Maintain professional registered nurse licensed status;
- Maintain certification as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse (Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the State Board of Nursing;
- Submit an online application
- Email a copy of your APN license to SPAPN for review.
Student/Associate Membership
Student Associate Membership is available for registered nurse graduate students in psychiatric nursing and those awaiting certification by ANCC.
Requirements
To be eligible for Student/Associate Membership in the Society, an applicant is required to:
Have enrolled or graduated from an accredited Master’s Degree Program in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing and be working toward ANCC and State Board of Nursing Certification as a Psychiatric Advance Practice Nurse and documentation of graduation for review by the Society’s Membership Committee;
- Have graduated from an accredited Master’s Degree Program in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing and be working toward ANCC and State Board of Nursing Certification as a Psychiatric Advance Practice Nurse and documentation of graduation for review by the Society’s Membership Committee;
OR
- Be enrolled in an accredited Master’s Degree Program in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing and submit a letter of enrollment from the Program Director for review by the Society’s Membership Committee
- Submit an online application
- Submit proof of academic status for review by Society’s Membership Committee;
- Maintain professional registered nurse licensed status.
- Thereafter remit yearly dues until criteria are met for full Clinical Membership Status.
Lifetime Membership
Lifetime Membership is available to clinical members who have reached 65 and older and are fully retired or is permanently disabled from their job as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse.
Requirements
To be eligible for Lifetime Membership in the Society, an applicant is required to:
- Be a Clinical Member who is completely retired and has reached the age of 65 or who is permanently disabled from their career as an advanced practice psychiatric nurse.
- This person must have been an active Clinical Member in good standing of SPAPN for at least 5 years before, paying dues at the Clinical Member level. Lifetime members pay dues at one-quarter the rate of Clinical Members and are entitled to all the benefits of Clinical Membership.
Refund policy: No refunds on donations or exhibits.
