Membership Levels

I. Collaborating APN Membership

SPAPN membership for one year.
Payment (Zelle ID: Collaborating)
One-year commitment — non-refundable.

A tailored agreement designed to support your growth and success for new PMHNPs with less than 5000 hours of practice in the field of psychiatry. The credentialing process takes approximately 4 weeks.

    check Access to a Collaborative Physician: You will have access to a dedicated psychiatrist who will serve as your collaborative physician. This partnership will provide invaluable support and guidance as you navigate complex cases and enhance your treatment plans. We meet via Zoom a minimum of quarterly and discuss cases. We meet the third Monday at 7 pm in March, June, September and December.

    check Comprehensive SPAPN Resources: Gain access to a wealth of resources, including up-to-date educational materials, best practice guidelines, and professional development tools to keep you at the forefront of the psychiatric field.

REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for Collaborating APN Membership in the Society, an applicant is required to:

checkMaintain professional registered nurse license and an Advanced Practice Nurse license in NJ;
checkMaintain certification as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or AANPBC;
checkMaintain liability insurance with a minimum amount of not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence and $6,000,000 in the aggregate.

II. Clinical Membership
125 (USD) Subscription Period:
1 Year.  Automatic Renewal (recurring payments)

Clinical members are required to maintain their professional RN and APN license, and to maintain certification as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses.

REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for Clinical Membership in the Society, an applicant is required to:

checkMaintain professional registered nurse licensed status;
checkMaintain certification as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse (Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC);
checkSubmit an online application.
checkEmail a copy of your APN license to SPAPN for review.

III. Student/Associate Membership
50 (USD) Subscription Period:
1 Year.  No automatic recurring payments

Associate Membership is available for registered nurse graduate students in psychiatric nursing and those awaiting certification by ANCC. Two year maximum.

REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for Student/Associate Membership in the Society, an applicant is required to:

Have enrolled or graduated from an accredited Master’s Degree Program in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing and be working toward ANCC and State Board of Nursing Certification as a Psychiatric Advance Practice Nurse and documentation of graduation for review by the Society’s Membership Committee;

checkBe enrolled in an accredited Master’s Degree Program in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing and submit a letter of enrollment from the Program Director for review by the Society’s Membership Committee.
checkSubmit an online application
checkSubmit proof of academic status for review by Society’s Membership Committee;
checkMaintain professional registered nurse licensed status.
checkThereafter remit yearly dues until criteria are met for full Clinical Membership Status.

IV. Lifetime Membership
25 (USD) Subscription Period:
Annually Automatic Renewal(recurring payments)

Lifetime Membership is available to clinical members who have reached 65 and older and are fully retired or is permanently disabled from their job as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse.

REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for Lifetime Membership in the Society, an applicant is required to:

checkBe a Clinical Member who is completely retired and has reached the age of 65 or who is permanently disabled from their career as an advanced practice psychiatric nurse.
checkThis person must have been an active Clinical Member in good standing of SPAPN for at least 5 years before, paying dues at the Clinical Member level. Lifetime members pay dues at one-quarter the rate of Clinical Members and are entitled to all the benefits of Clinical Membership.
