Premium members are required to maintain their professional RN and APN license, and to maintain certification as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses, malpractice insurance and a minimum of 2500 hours of PMHNP practice post certification.
To be eligible for Clinical Membership in the Society, an applicant is required to:
The Nurse Practitioner shall be responsible for maintaining and keeping current licenses, (APN, DEA, CDS and all certifications) as well as maintaining professional liability insurance with a minimum amount of not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence and $6,000,000 in the aggregate.
Clinical members are required to maintain their professional RN and APN license, and to maintain certification as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses.

Associate Membership is available for registered nurse graduate students in psychiatric nursing and those awaiting certification by ANCC. Two year maximum.
To be eligible for Student/Associate Membership in the Society, an applicant is required
to:
Have enrolled or graduated from an accredited Master’s Degree Program in Psychiatric-Mental Health
Nursing and be working toward ANCC and State Board of Nursing Certification as a Psychiatric Advance
Practice Nurse and documentation of graduation for review by the Society’s Membership Committee;
Lifetime Membership is available to clinical members who have reached 65 and older and are fully retired or is permanently disabled from their job as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse.
