September 9, 2024 - Executive Order 112 has been enacted
to allow advanced practice nurses (APNs) to practice independently, without the need for a collaborative
agreement with a physician. This order recognizes the critical role of APNs in delivering high-quality
healthcare, especially in underserved areas. By allowing APNs to operate autonomously, the order aims to enhance
patient access to care, streamline healthcare services, and leverage the expertise of these skilled
professionals. This initiative underscores the importance of advanced practice nursing in the evolving
healthcare landscape, promoting a more efficient and responsive healthcare system. SPAPN has advocated to have
NJ be one of the 4 states to have this temporary waiver still in place, even though the emergency orders have
been lifted, E112 is still in effect.
