Purpose: To meet psychiatric practitioners’ need for enhanced understanding and knowledge of current innovations in psychiatric mental health practice and implications for practice in all settings.


Objectives: 

(1) Describe areas of current innovation and change in psychiatric mental health nursing practice;

(2) Discuss implications of these changes for assessment, diagnosis and treatment;

(3) Identify the effects upon, and implications for, practice.


Target Audience:

Psychiatric Registered Nurses, Psychiatric APNs, Advanced Practice Nurses, Psychiatric APN Graduate Students, and Mental Health Professionals who require updated knowledge of evidence-based best practice treatment in areas of current innovation and change in psychiatric mental health nursing practice.

Contact Hours (including Pharmacology)


This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Montana Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.  Approval is for 7.3 contact hours, including 2.6 pharmacology contact hours of continuing nursing education.

Criteria for successful completion in order to earn contact hours: (1) Attendance at 100% of the program; (2) Completion of evaluation forms; (3) Participants will state at least one anticipated practice change related to care of the patient with obesity and/or disordered eating and (4) Participants will pass a post-test with a score of 80% or higher.   

No planner, presenter, faculty, author or content reviewer associated with this program is deemed to have a conflict of interest as regards the content of any presentation.

If the conference is cancelled by SPAPN, you will receive a full refund.

If a registration is cancelled more than 14 days prior to the event, refunds will be issued minus the non-refundable deposit of 25%.  If a cancellation is made less than 14 days out, the full amount is still due. At this point, preparations have been made for you to attend. Policy exceptions due to unforeseen tragedy or serious circumstances  will be considered on an individual basis. “No-Shows” will not receive a refund.
